FAMILY FAQ

Why is Premier Nannies and Rent A Mom Unique?

- Rent A Mom was started by its former owner in 1981; Laurie bought the business in 1990 and in addition to the babysitting service she created Premier Nannies for the growth of its permanent nanny placements; we are locally owned and operated; and are available at our Cherry Creek office Monday thru Friday, and answer the phones whenever humanly possible! Of course, like every other business these days, we do have voicemail also.

- Our staff has been in the childcare field for many years and is dedicated to the well-being, development & education of children.

- We are constantly looking for the proverbial "red flags" on nanny applications, e.g., inconsistencies and/or gaps in work history; we request proof of claimed accomplishments and we require verifiable references.

- Our RENT A MOM temporary service enables us to maintain a large pool of nannies, many of whom are seeking full-time positions. For example, if you meet an applicant who you want to hire on a permanent basis, and the position doesn't start for several weeks, we can keep her busy in temps until the position starts without the worry that she may keep looking for another position. In addition, if your nanny should get sick or goes on vacation, our temporary department is always available to you for backup childcare.

- Our temporary service also allows us to get to know our nannies personally and maintain quality and long-term relationships with them.
- Since we charge flat fees for permanent placements, you can count on our staff to only recommend salaries that are truly at the industry averages.

How long is the permanent search process for a nanny?

- It really depends on each family's needs. We've been known to fill jobs in two days - but the process could take up to a few weeks. We'll focus solely on your needs, and if you can offer any scheduling options we can increase the number of quality applicants who are available for your position. It will be posted immediately on our website for instant viewing by potential candidates. We offer full disclosure on each applicant.

Does the nanny become my employee?

Yes. Upon registering with our agency, we have a very informative packet of material that you will receive to assist with your search, including tax information from two highly reputable companies that we have worked with for several years and that have serviced dozens of our clients. We do, however, recommend that you consult a tax advisor.

What am I getting for the fees and what can our family count on
Premier Nannies and Rent A Mom for?

- The stability of an agency that has built up a healthy, positive reputation in Denver for over twenty-five years, and which has been locally owned & operated by Laurie Pensack since 1990.

- The most scrutinizing reference and background checks possible! Whatever we can legally obtain on an applicant - we do- with full disclosure!

- Above all, the promise that our friendly, caring staff, (please see "About Us") will always do its best to get your family the quality care you are seeking.

NANNY FAQ

After I am accepted, when can I expect to get placed in a position?
Once we have completed reference and background checking and your credentials check out, we will call you with available positions. We'll probably also ask you to call us frequently so that we know that you are still available and interested. A great deal will be up to you and how you present yourself at the interviews. The parents will be looking for your interaction skills not only with them, but of course with their children. Be prepared to listen to their needs and ask about their goals for their children, as well as asking your own questions. You need to be able to sell yourself. We will provide you with interview opportunities as soon as possible.

I've been babysitting since I was 13. Do you want work histories that far back?
Yes, and much more! We are interested in your entire history of caregiving, as well as other long term positions that you have held that can offer us an idea about your personality, reliability, dependability, work ethic, etc., even if they are not childcare related. Try to remember about personal references who have known you for a long time; those would be excellent to have as well. THE most important references are those that are stable professional positions that are childcare related such as a nanny, daycare center teacher, church nursery teacher or assistant, etc. and must be verifiable. Early childhood education and elementary education background is a huge plus as well; we'll ask that you provide a diploma or transcript on your educational history.

Do families offer benefits?
Some do! Some don't! Often with fulltime placements there are benefits that a family will consider offering once you are there for a certain period of time. Basically, as in any employment situation, benefits to possibly look forward to are health, paid holidays, and personal days. If you show a family that you are there to make their lives easier, much of the above will fall into place.

Am I required to have CPR/first aid training before being placed?
If you have had CPR and first aid training, but need to get updated, most families will request that you do so. It's a great idea to get qualified in advance! That will give you one more advantage with your resume. We have a list of various locations offering those courses and we're happy to get it to you.

What are average salaries?
Salaries are a wide range! Average salaries for fulltime positions (from 30-50 hours per week) are from $1800 to $2500 per month; part-time (under 30 hours per week) rates are from $11-$15 per hour. Much of the determination is based on your experience, what the family's job responsibilities are, and number of hours they are requesting. Be careful to not price yourself out of a job; we're happy to coach you in this regard.

Are there any fees for which I am responsible?
NO!! Our job is to get you a job!
